Transgender Day Of Remembrance 2021 –
375 trans* people were murdered during the last year. Many more were hurt and violated, and so many more can’t be themselves for reasons of safety and transphobia. But those are so much more than just numbers. Each is an individual, a human being, a story has had just begun and whose song will stay unsung. The youngest person was 13 years old, and the oldest murdered person was 68 years old, and trans* persons of color, especially trans women of color are the most vulnerable, and over 50% of trans men have attempted suicide at least once.
How much longer until so-called inclusive spaces will become truly inclusive, especially and also for trans* persons of color?
I am proud of who Iam, created to be who and as I am – but today I am grieving for all those who can’t and couldn’t.
You all, we all, are beautiful, wonderful, precious andperfect the way we are and have so many gifts to bring, making this world so much richer. Walk in beauty, walk in strength.
