Shards of broken glass on the streets
and flames licking high on walls
of synagogues, stores, hospitals and schools
as sledgehammers ransack und beat to pulp
and boots keep droning on the pavement
in search of the next victim to strip of their humanity
as the prelude to a sinister orchestra piece
hellbent on crushing the last soul
in murderous hateful intention
after having licked jewish blood
The Night of broken Glass
inaugurated the 6 million
just 85 years ago
But its seeds survived
and revive beneath our eyes
with murderous chants
and hatefilled propaganda,
ransacking, violent, insulting,
boycotting, attacking, murdering,
shooting against schools and lighting shuls
with zero empathy
and the rest watching in silence –
how not to see the parallels?
And from broken glass
to broken hearts
the 200, Bring Them Home!
And social media warriors and rioters
play geopolitical head games of hate
between rhetorics and lies
treating us just like facts and figures
and teams to cheer or to hate on
as if words had no consequences
forgetting that we All are humans
in search of their homeland,
of peace, and a good life.
Guten Tag Herr A. Lee.
Hans Gamma
